If you're not a morning person, you may find that when stress hits in the morning, it's harder to seal with than at any other time in your day. If that's so, create a self-care plan to soothe stress away in those moments, and let aromatherapy help... Calming Down After Stress There are several essential oils you might use to return to peace after a stressful morning, or even after one moment of god-awful stress. (1) For its soothing, feels-like-a-hug properties, I'd choose lavender essential oil. (2) In a situation where the moment has passed, but a problem remains, and you want to let go of worry or cheer up for a moment, I'd choose orange essential oil. And they both play nicely with each other. Remember, though, that because orange is a citrus oil, you have to avoid photosensitivity. Choose lavender, instead, on any day you will be leaving the house. Have you ever used lavender or orange after a stressful moment? See you next time! I've used lavender often when dealing with stress - morning, noon or night! ;-) My migraines respond well to lavender, so my daughter got me a roller ball dispenser to keep in my purse. That one and a peppermint one have worked well in many instances.

That's great that lavender has been helpful! Was it you, the other day, who said that you love peppermint? Because peppermint might be a good ally for alertness.

That's great, Barb! It certainly doesn't interest everyone, but for those who like scents, in general, it's a neat topic to learn more about, I think.

I might use aromatherapy when I was relaxing with a friend. Otherwise, I am out of the bed seconds after my eyes open- and off to somewhere else.

I envy you that ability, Roy. That's wonderful! I have transformed my relationship with mornings and I truly love them now. But bound out of bed, I do not.

I am not a morning person, but, oddly enough, feel very little stress. It's probably because I'm walking around in a half-conscious haze, somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. Stress doesn't hit me until later, when I'm actually awake. I would like to try aromatherapy, however. It sounds very good.

Well, that's good, Alice!! Sometimes mornings can be stressful just because you're up and having to function when your mind and body are still longing for sleep. Glad you don't experience that! It's possible aromatherapy could help you with becoming more alert, more quickly. Maybe in combination with something you're going to do anyway, like your morning shower.
